Home from cousin-sibling-parent-grandparent-statepark-games-toomucheatingout-poolmania time in Illinois. Pere Marquette State Park to be exact. Delightful, and very little in terms of agenda, other than figuring out where to have 13 people eat a meal together when many kids are involved. The Fin Inn was the highlight for the kids, as this 150-year-old or so specimen was right next to our table ...
Douglas had loads of cousin time, and even got to meet a lucid and humorous 106-year old man on the way home, who he declared to be "very very old!", and I found to be much more interesting than the turtle.
The trip home was another matter, as booking 6am flights from O'hare with a 4-year-old isn't all that fun, especially when the flight is jam packed full of business travellers. Thankfully Michael sat with D and kept him entertained the entire flight, as he didn't want to sleep. I did, but couldn't manage it, though rest was awfully nice. We bolted home to drop bags and rush to PreK registration which had started at 9am, and managed to get him to be first on the waiting list ... could be worse. Hoping that one of 18 parents changes their minds in the next 3 months!
Have more I'd like to say but too tired to say it. Rather a theme lately.
