I went to see the movie Babies tonight, and utterly enjoyed it. It had plenty of cute moments, documenting the birth and first year of four babies in four different countries. What really fascinated me though was seeing the amazingly different ways they were raised, and the social differences. Personally I walked away thinking that the more ‘stuff’ we have, the more isolated we end up being. It seemed to me that the more stuff (toys, gear, etc.) that the families had, the more overstimulated, frustrated, and overwhelmed the kids were. I’m curious if you’ve seen it, what your reactions were?
I’d highly recommend it if you can find it, and wouldn’t hesitate to take my kids either, I think they’d love it. It’s eye-opening to see how other mothers mother :).
