Jocelyn Green’s great Child’s Play NY theatre classes are starting up next week for the afterschool crowd, grab ‘em while you can! There’s Wee Play for the 3 and 4 year-olds, and Story Play for the K and 1st grade set. I’m very tempted to get Fynn involved :). Deets are below …
Wee Play (ages 3-4)
Children explore story-telling, song and creative movement in this class for the youngest of thespians. Using their bodies, voices and minds, students re-interpret classic and contemporary children’s literature and are inspired to create their own adventures. Simple props and costumes help them bring their characters to life. Connections are made to literature and the world around them. Classes encourage creative expression and confidence. The last day of class is open for family and friends.

Story Play (K-1st grade)
In weekly sessions, children tap into their creativity and intrinsic sense of play. We play theatre games that inspire self-expression and build characters that give voice to their unique personalities. Into each class is woven a fable or fairy-tale which the class re-interprets and which spring-boards improvisation. Techniques of acting as well as specific voice and movement work are an integral part of the curriculum. Visual arts, mask, puppetry and costume augment the workshop and support imagination. The classes culminate in a performance of a story on the last day of class.
