Room to Grow

At the Run for the Moms race that I hosted earlier this month, I chose the charity Room to Grow as the beneficiary of all the proceeds.  They serve kids born into poverty by supplying them with the things they need for the first three years of their lives. The name is apt, and one that made me think.  They make it possible for kids to have access to what they need to grow up healthy.

The phrase is apt for me this year too, as I sit here with a stomach stretched from too much holiday food!  I found room to grow myself this year, and helped my kids do the same.  Physically we took back a piece of our apartment that we'd sublet for the last couple of years, and now literally have more room to spread out in.  My office is finally separate from my bedroom, and that's a huge improvement.  Spiritually I stepped back from the church I'd been associated with, and found new room to grow my heart.  Emotionally I've made some discoveries about myself that have given me more space and ability to express my feelings and thoughts.

I've made room and been given room. I've put aside things to make room for others.  I've knocked things off my plate to focus on one thing for a period of time.  I've been given room by my husband, friends, and family.  I've carved out space in my head and life so I can think about how I want to grow next.

There's always room to grow

.  Squeeze it in if you have to.  Sweep the counter full of stuff in the trash.  Ditch that old box, unopened, into the dumpster.  The bottom line?

Make the room in your head and your heart, and you'll find the room in your life.

So how do you want to grow this year?  Make a conscious choice, wrap your heart around it, find the time to think about it, and watch for every chance to work it into your life.  You're never to old or busy or tired to grow!
