Question of the Week | November 25th

How do you stay sane during the winter holidays?

The holiday season in the U.S. hits high gear this week, starting with Thanksgiving and carrying on through New Years. No matter what you celebrate, it’s a time for travel, seeing family, shopping, sharing, cooking, and giving. How DO you stay sane? I know some friends who go ALL out and decorate, bake, make, shop, wrap, mail, write, celebrate, visit, and who knows what else … for 6 weeks straight!  As I get older I find I have less patience for all the busy-ness, and an interest in starting traditions with my own kids that aren’t necessarily tied to the actual holidays. I try to keep things simple, spend less (especially this year!), and take the time to actually enjoy small things. Do you say NO a lot? Drink a lot? Make allowances during the holidays that you don’t otherwise?

Please share your tips with the rest of us, or at least one of them!

PRIZE THIS WEEK : A photo album for your archiving (or gifting!) pleasure. Dig out some old pics from under the bed and stick them in (if you’re like me) or create an album from digital pics (Snapfish does cheap prints!). It will be handmade by yours truly, so it’s worth answering a question for if I don’t say so myself :).

DEADLINE : December 5th at midnight EST.
