First off, no question this week as I’m betting you’re all too busy to answer anything other than the usual when/where/how/why litany. I’m slowly getting the to-do’s done, getting ready for company, and trying not to plan any more than necessary. My MIL just called inviting us for Christmas dinner, so that’s covered :).
Before I forget, Merry Christmas! There’s a great version of the real reason behind Christmas here. It’s very well told, and going to be read to my kids on Christmas Eve.
PW is doing a countdown to christmas series of Giveaways (read: nice fat Amazon gift-cards!) on her main blog and on the Tasty Kitchen Blog. Check ‘em out, a simple comment gets you entered!
Need last-minute gifts? Don’t want to shop or pay insane shipping charges? Check out etsy’s shop local feature, and buy something hand-made and pick it up. I bought last night, picked up today, and love that I got to meet the craftsman in person! It was this for my husband.
Beware of Holiday Doubt! I read this article from Mary Hunt over at DebtProof Living today, and it SO hit home. Read this bit :
Just days before Christmas, when all the gifts are wrapped and the plans are nearly complete, I hear this voice suggesting that the gifts I made are really dumb, and the ones I purchased are too cheesy. Surely, they won’t be right, and I’m going to be embarrassed. I begin feeling regretful.
You know the “oh I’m sure I don’t have enough food!” panic at the last minute. Read the article, or at least tell yourself “my first decision was a good one, don’t doubt it now!” and press on.
Cheap last-minute gifts … a few ideas here. How about gift certificates for your own time or services? Breakfast in bed, free Saturday morning, etc. I’d love a few of those :).
Have a bit of cash but no time? Fandango Bucks (I got a stash for my birthday last week, and can’t wait to use them!) Amazon Gift Cards, etc.
Whatever you do this week, have a joyous time, and make the most of friends and family!
Love,
SaneMom
