Summer Theater program for kids (NY-based)

A locally grown arts organization for Brooklyn Youth

Child’s Play NY, a recently established organization that offers year-round intensive workshops for children with an interest in theater, is pleased to announce its newly expanded Summer schedule. Intensives in musicals, play writing, Shakespeare, acting for the camera, and more are now open for registration for children ages 4-10.  Designed to build confidence and nurture the imagination, students use creative play to create characters, learn story structure and enhance literacy.

Collaborating with other Brooklyn-based arts organizations such as Little Creatures Films and Let’s Dance Brooklyn, Founding Director, Jocelyn Greene will teach acting, improvisation and character work and direct the culminating performances.  She has assembled an exciting array of guest teachers and speakers who range from Broadway musical theater actors to producers and directors of locally shot television shows.

About Jocelyn Greene:
Born into a family of actors in Brooklyn and raised in LA, Jocelyn is a professional actress.  She received her M.F.A. in Acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and brings to Child’s Play NY 6 years of experience in teaching acting and producing plays for children ages 4-10 in Brooklyn schools (Packer Collegiate Institute and Berkeley Carroll School).  She recently founded Child’s Play NY because she wanted to bring creative and collaborative arts education to a broader array of Brooklyn youth.  She believes that the skills that a young person develops while creating theater are powerful tools for education that will serve them for a lifetime.
